  2. Opting for a combination of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Agricultural Engineering.
  3. Simultaneously selecting Mathematics and Statistics.
  4. Pairing Anthropology with Sociology.
  5. Opting for a combination of Political Science & International Relations and Public Administration.
  6. Choosing both Commerce & Accountancy and Management.
  7. Simultaneously selecting Agriculture and Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science.
  8. Pairing Management with Public Administration.
  9. Simultaneously opting for Education and Psychology.
  10. Selecting both Agriculture and Agricultural Engineering.

OPSC OCS Mains Examination Subjects

After successful completion of the OPSC OCS Prelims paper, candidates become eligible to appear for the OPSC OCS Mains Paper. The Mains Exam comprises descriptive and essay-based papers, providing a comprehensive assessment of candidates' knowledge and skills. The following details the subjects included in the OPSC OCS Mains Exam: The Main Examination comprises the following papers, each lasting for a duration of three hours.

OPSC OCS Compulsary Papers

  • Seven compulsory papers are part of the Mains exam.
  • Two of these papers, Odia and English language, are qualifying in nature.
  • Qualifying marks in these language papers do not impact the candidate's merit list ranking.
  • A minimum qualifying mark in Paper A (Odia) and Paper B (English) is required.
  • Each compulsory paper has a duration of three hours.
  • Total Marks of Compulsory papers is 1400

Optional Papers – (Paper 6, 7, 8 and 9)

Candidates need to select two subjects from the list of Optional subjects provided. Each subject consists of two papers, with each paper carrying 300 marks.

Paper 6 & 7: Odia Language

This is a qualifying paper, and the marks are not added to the merit list. The syllabus includes:
  • Comprehension of a given passage
  • Precis writing with a passage of around 1000 words
  • Translation
  • Grammar, usage, and vocabulary
  • Short Essay of around 1000 words
  • Expansion of an idea

Paper 8 & 9: English (300 Marks Each)

Similar to the Odia Language paper, this is a qualifying paper, and the marks are not added to the merit list. The syllabus includes:
  • Comprehension of a given passage
  • Precis writing with a passage of around 1000 words
  • Translation
  • Grammar, usage, and vocabulary
  • Short Essay of around 1000 words
  • Expansion of an idea

Paper 10: English Essay (200 Marks)

Candidates are required to write an essay on a specific topic. The choice of subjects will be given. Candidates are expected to adhere closely to the essay's subject, organize their ideas in an orderly fashion, and write concisely. Credit will be given for effective and exact expression.

Paper 11: General Studies-I (300 Marks)

The syllabus includes:
  • History of Modern India and Indian Culture
  • Geography of India
  • Indian Polity
  • Current National issues and topics of social relevance
  • Legal and environmental issues

Paper 12: General Studies-II (300 Marks)

The syllabus includes:
  • India and the World
  • Indian Economy
