IELTS Discussion Essay Sample Question and Model Answer
Question: Students can learn acceptable societal norms from their parents at home, whereas, others believe schools are the best way to teach society and its norms. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
Model Answer:
The debate about the role of parents and schools in shaping a child’s character is very crucial for society. In this essay, I will discuss both perspectives before presenting my own viewpoint. Firstly, parents are the first teachers of their children. They play significant roles in developing moral behaiviour among children through their everyday interactions. For instance, children learn values like honesty, discipline, empathy, etc from watching the regular behaviour of their parents. On the other hand, schools can impart qualities of social skills, collaboration, communication, teamwork, diversity, respect for other community members, and positive contributions to society. School is an institution that helps children to grow as a members of society with moral values and helps in the overall development of their personality. For instance, children learn collaboration and teamwork through group projects and discussion sessions. As per my own experience, both parents and schools play significant roles in developing social behaiviour among children. Parents set the foundation of children’s character and schools shape their personalities for the complexities of society. Therefore, it should be a collaborative approach from the parents and schools in order to develop social values among children. In conclusion, both parents and schools contribute uniquely to a child’s social development. Only a balanced approach from both can help students grow comprehensively.IELTS Exam Important Links | |
