UGC NET Law Exam 2024 Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the UGC NET Law Exam 2024, candidates must meet the following criteria:
  • Educational Qualification : Candidates must have completed a Master's degree or equivalent in Law from a recognized university.
  • Minimum Qualifying Marks : The minimum qualifying marks are 55% for General category candidates and 50% for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, and Third gender candidates.
  • Age Limit : For the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), the maximum age limit is 31 years as of June 1, 2024. Age relaxation of up to 5 years is provided to candidates belonging to OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, and women applicants. There is no upper age limit for the position of Assistant Professor.
  • Relaxations : Candidates with a Ph.D. degree whose Master's level examination was completed by September 19, 1991 (irrespective of the date of declaration of result) are eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e., from 55% to 50%).

UGC NET Law Exam 2024 Apply Online

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the important dates for the UGC NET 2024 examination. The deadline for submission of examination fee through various payment methods has been extended till May 20th, 2024, at 11:59 P.M. Candidates who have not submitted their fee can do so within this timeframe. Additionally, the correction window for online application form details is open from May 21 to May 23, 2024, till 11:59 pm. This is an important opportunity for the candidates to make necessary changes in their UGC NET Application Form . For the year 2024, the UGC NET application fee has been fixed as follows: General category candidates need to pay Rs 1150, while General-EWS/OBC category candidates need to pay Rs 600. SC/ST/PwD category candidates have been exempted from paying the application fee, with a fee of Rs 325. Candidates must note the application fee charges before submitting their applications to avoid any last-minute issues.

UGC NET Law Exam Pattern 2024

The exam consists of two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2, which are conducted in a single session without any break. Paper 1, which carries 100 marks, has 50 questions and is designed to test the candidate's teaching aptitude, research aptitude, comprehension, and communication skills. The duration of this paper is 1 hour. The UGC NET Paper 2, which carries 200 marks, has 100 questions and is designed to test the candidate's knowledge of law, covering core areas such as Jurisprudence, Constitutional and administrative law, Public International Law, IHL, etc. The duration of this paper is 2 hours.
