'Candidates may be required to write essays on multiple topics. They will be expected to keep closely to the subject of the essay to arrange their ideas in orderly fashion, and to write concisely. Credit will be given for effective and exact expression.'
The UPSC Exam Pattern 2025 consists of three stages: the Prelims, the Mains, and the Interview. The Prelims include two objective-type papers, General Studies Paper I and CSAT. The Mains involve nine descriptive papers, including Essay, General Studies I-IV, Optional Papers I & II, and Language Papers.
