The UPSC Civil Services Examination is conducted in three stages: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Personality Test. The Mains Examination is the second stage and plays a major role in determining a candidate's final rank.

UPSC Mains Syllabus 2027: Paper Wise

The UPSC Mains Examination consists of nine papers. Out of these, Paper A (Indian Language) and Paper B (English) are qualifying in nature. The remaining papers contribute to the final merit score.

UPSC Mains Essay Paper 2027

The Essay paper evaluates your ability to express ideas clearly and present arguments in a logical manner. You are expected to write essays on the topics provided in the examination.

Indian Language Paper (Qualifying)

This paper tests basic language skills such as comprehension, grammar, and writing ability. You can choose one language from the list prescribed by UPSC.
