GMAT Focus Edition Exam Pattern

The GMAT Focus Edition is a 1 hour and 45 minute exam, significantly shorter than the previous GMAT which was around 3 hours and 7 minutes long. The exam consists of three sections:
  1. Quantitative Reasoning (QR) : 21 questions, 45 minutes
  2. Verbal Reasoning (VR) : 23 questions, 45 minutes
  3. Data Insights (DI) : 20 questions, 45 minutes
The GMAT Focus Edition has 64 questions, down from 80 in the previous version. Each section's score ranges from 60 to 90 points, with scores increasing by 1-point increments. The total score ranges from 205 to 805, with 10-point increments.
  • A key change is the removal of the Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) section, which was a 30-minute essay in the old GMAT. The Sentence Correction (SC) subsection has also been removed from the Verbal Reasoning section.
  • The new Data Insights (DI) section focuses on skills in data analysis, data sufficiency, multi-source reasoning, table analysis, graphics interpretation, and two-part analysis.
The GMAT Focus Edition is an adaptive test, meaning the difficulty of questions changes based on the test-taker's performance. A unique feature of this format is that candidates can change up to three answers in each section, helping to reduce exam stress and promote decisive decision-making.
