IOQM Eligibility Criteria 2025: The Mathematics Teachers’ Association (India) and the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education organizes the Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Mathematics (IOQM) for students of Classes 8 to 12. IOQM for Class 8 and IOQM for Class 9 students are eligible to apply if they fulfill the age and education-related eligibility norms.
The IQOM is the first step for selecting eligible students for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) held to identify proficient students to showcase their skill and talent at higher level.
Before registering, candidates should know the IOQM Eligibility Criteria 2025, ensuring that participants understand the requirements, i.e. Age limit for IOQM 2025, education and category of the students.
This IOQM Eligibility ensures that participants are school students within a specific age limit and citizenship status, aligning with the selection process for the Indian Mathematical Olympiad pathway leading to the International Mathematical Olympiad. The age limit for IOQM 2025 has been clearly defined to make sure that students from appropriate grade levels are selected for this competitive process.
The goal of the Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Mathematics is to bring secondary and higher secondary students together in a common competitive arena to showcase their passion and talent in Mathematics. To participate in INMO, students must meet several eligibility criteria. Here we have shared the breakdown of the IOQM Eligibility Criteria 2025.
IOQM 2025 is open to Indian students or OCI cardholders and qualified candidates are going to take part in RMO. In a case where even the IOQM score fails to break the tie, the final list submitted to the HBCSE will consider all the candidates.
Students must be born between 1 August 2006, and 31 July 2013, and currently studying in Class 8, 9, 10, 11, or 12. This indicates the defined Age limit for IOQM, confirming eligibility for IOQM for Class 8 and IOQM for Class 9 candidates. No student born on or after 1 August 2013, is allowed to write Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Mathematics (IOQM) 2025 to be held on 7th September 2025.
ThAs per the IOQM Elgiibility 2025 the student must be an Indian citizen or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI).
However, as per the Madras High Court order, students with OCI status are provisionally eligible to participate to the training camps including the International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC) and the European Girls’ Mathematical, Olympiad Training Camp (EGMOTC) provided they fulfil all other criteria and selection tests. But are not eligible to represent India in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO), or Asian Pacific Mathematics Olympiad (APMO).
The following eligibility criteria for IOQM 2025 are necessary to be fulfilled for the candidates to be eligible to write first stage of the International Maths Olympiad exam. It will be the responsibility of the student to ensure that the above eligibility criteria are satisfied. In case it is found at any later stage of the programme that a student does not meet the eligibility criteria, he or she may be disqualified from the programme.
The student should have been residing and studying in India since 30 October 2023, or earlier, or must be studying in an Indian school system since 30 October 2023 or earlier. Students studying under state education boards are also allowed, which means IOQM by state boards is permitted under the eligibility criteria.
The student must not have qualified for or appeared in the Class 12 board examination earlier than 30 October 2024. Forfeiting board exam results to meet eligibility is not allowed.
The student must not have applied or be planning to apply studies in a university or equivalent institution by 1 June 2026.
Students who are INMO 2025 awardees are eligible to write INMO 2026 directly without qualifying through IOQM 2025 and RMO 2025, if they meet the age and other eligibility criteria.
Note: The student will be regarded as one who has enrolled from the Delhi-NCR and the same selection criteria for RMO 2025 and INMO 2026 will apply to him/her as for any student residing and studying in India who has enrolled from Delhi-NCR.
