NID Admission Process
NID admissions 2025 involves two stages namely, Prelims and Mains. It is mandatory to clear both stages to qualify for the counselling rounds and get a chance to secure your desired program.
The NID DAT Prelims is a pen-and-paper test and includes questions based on text and visuals specifically tailored to assess candidates for NID PG courses. The test is conducted on the same day across all centres. Candidates qualify for the NID DAT Mains exam based on the scores obtained in the prelims. After clearing the NID DAT Prelims, candidates appear for the Mains test, where they participate in the Studio Test and Personal Interview round.

For getting admission to any National Institute of Design (NID), candidates must adhere to the eligibility criteria for the NID entrance exam including those specific to NID masters courses. Only candidates born on or after 1st July 2003 can apply for admission.

Only candidates born on or after 1st July 1998 are eligible.
For foreign nationals overseas:
Only those candidates born on or after 1st July 2003 are eligible.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have completed their class 12th from ICSE/IB/AISSCE or any recognized board during the academic year 2023 will be eligible to apply for NID DAT entrance exam.
Freshers appearing for their class 12th exam can also apply for the exam.
