Banking Exams 2026–27 Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for any banking recruitment, you should carefully verify the eligibility conditions prescribed in the official notification. While the exact requirements differ from one organisation to another, most banking examinations follow similar criteria regarding educational qualification, age limit, nationality, and age relaxation.

Educational Qualification

  • A Bachelor's degree from a recognised university is the minimum educational qualification for most banking examinations.

  • Certain examinations, such as IBPS SO and some specialist posts, require qualifications in specific disciplines like Law, Information Technology, Agriculture, Human Resources, Marketing, or other relevant fields.

  • Candidates appearing in the final year of graduation are generally eligible only if they possess the required degree by the date specified in the official notification.

Age Limit

The minimum age for most banking examinations is 20 years, while the upper age limit generally ranges between 28 and 30 years, depending on the recruitment.

Some examinations have different age criteria:

  • SBI PO: 21–30 years

  • IBPS PO: 20–30 years

  • IBPS Clerk (CSA): 20–28 years

  • RBI Grade B: 21–30 years

  • NABARD Grade A: Usually 21–30 years (subject to notification)

Nationality

You should be:

  • A citizen of India; or

  • A subject of Nepal or Bhutan; or

  • A Tibetan refugee who migrated before the prescribed date; or

  • A person of Indian origin migrating from specified countries, subject to Government of India guidelines.

Age Relaxation

Reserved category candidates receive age relaxation as per Government of India norms. The relaxation varies depending on the recruitment authority and category, including SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), PwBD, Ex-servicemen, and other eligible categories.

Since eligibility requirements may change slightly with every recruitment cycle, always refer to the official notification before submitting your application.

Banking Exams 2026–27 Exam Pattern
