GATE Zonal Offices 2026 - The Graduate Aptitude Test In Engineering for the upcoming year will be organized by the IIT Guwahati in February 2026 for 30 different branches. The GATE exam is primarily held for applicants seeking admission to master's and doctoral programs to the reputed institutes across the country. Candidates who pass the GATE 2026 exam are given MHRD and other government scholarships and assistantships in the fields of science, engineering, technology, and architecture.

The GATE score remains valid for three years following the results announcement date. All 30 papers of the GATE exam will be administered exclusively online. The Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology jointly administer and conduct GATE. The specifics of each Zonal Office are listed in the below table. Each of the institutes runs a zone and provides services to exam cities close to the institute.

At the time of application, candidates are allocated a zone depending on their first-choice city. This zone number must be noted down by candidates for contact purposes.

Candidates must make contact with GATE Zonal offices through the GOAPS (GATE Online Application Processing System), which will deliver information more quickly and clearly. Only if a person is still unable to get the information they need after looking through the FAQs may they utilise the phone or email. In total of 8 GATE Zonal Offices are there across the country to conduct the examination smoothly.

A total of 8 zonal offices for GATE 2026 across the nation. Aspirants can contact the zonal offices from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday (only on government working days). GATE Zonal Offices 2026 Centres and Cities

Examination cities in India are separated into 8 zones for administrative purposes. The eight GATE Zonal offices that run GATE 2026 operations in these exam cities include IISc Bangalore and seven IITs. The zone to which the centre city belongs will display up if you choose a specific city as your first option. How to Select GATE Exam Centres 2026?

When filling out the GATE Application Form 2026, candidates must choose one of the GATE Exam Centres from the provided list. Candidates may choose up to three exam locations when submitting their applications.

The following list includes some of the most crucial information about GATE Exam Centres 2026 and the procedure for choosing those centres:

  • Those who administer the first and second exams must reside in the same GATE zone.
  • Any zone may be selected as the third GATE Exam Centre option.
  • Candidates can choose the GATE exam centre after completing all the required fields.
  • From a list of cities, they must choose the exam location.
  • According to their convenience, candidates can choose any one of the centres, taking into account their closest city.
  • The exam centres will be assigned based on first-come, first-served criteria.
  • After deciding on the exam locations, fill out all the necessary information and submit payment.
  • The GATE 2026 admission card, which includes information on the designated exam centre as well as the day and time of the exam, can be downloaded by candidates after successful registration.

Note that the GATE committee reserves the right to add a new city or remove an existing one owing to operational restrictions. It may assign a city that wasn't on the candidates' list of preferences. The GATE Admit card will list the centre information and the location of whichever centre the candidate is assigned.
