The discovery of the human genome occurred in 2003. It is composed of the complete DNA makeup of an organism and encodes information for constructing specific proteins. The genetic information in the genome determines inherited traits. Each human cell contains approximately 25,000 to 30,000 genomes, forming chromosomes. While most genomes and chromosomes share a similar structure, their unique DNA codes differentiate them.
 Genetic Code: The genetic code specifies the arrangement of amino acids in a protein. Each codon comprises three consecutive DNA bases and codes for a specific amino acid. A start and three stop genetic codes mark the initiation and conclusion of the protein-coding sequence (CDS). The CDS encompasses only 20 amino acids, while there are 64 protein CDS, which results in a redundant code.
 Transcription: Transcription is essential for producing messenger RNA (mRNA), which links the DNA genome and the final protein product. In this step of DNA-based genome expression, an enzyme called RNA polymerase transcribes a specific DNA segment into RNA.
Translation:  Translation is the process by which the protein-coding genome is transcribed into messenger RNA.  This mRNA acts as a bridge between the DNA genome and the final functional protein. The genetic code carried by mRNA is then translated into a functioning protein. In contrast, the RNA coding genome is translated into functional non-coding RNA.
