What is an Enquiry on Results? The IELTS Enquiry on Results (EOR) is a re-evaluation process of the test scores. This option is available to test takers who want to re-evaluate or remark one or more sections of their IELTS test. IELTS EOR allows test takers to apply for a re-mark for any of the four test sections: Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking, or even the entire test. 

Who Conducts the Re-Marking?

IDP IELTS remarking is generally assessed by skilled senior IELTS examiners. In the remarking process, the examiners are allowed to evaluate the exam papers without being informed of the original test scores. This method ensures a complete, fair, and unbiased assessment of the test copies. 

EOR Timelines

The IELTS Enquiry on Results must be completed within six weeks of the test date. The test date is generally mentioned in the IELTS Test Report Form (TRF). After the evaluation period is over, the new revised test scores will be available between 2 to 21 days. The timeline of the IELTS EOR typically depends on the number of sections candidates have applied for remarking. 

What Happens If Your Score Changes?

If your band score changes after the review, a new Test Report Form (TRF) will be issued reflecting the updated result. Additionally, the entire fee you paid for the EOR process will be refunded.

How to Request an IELTS Enquiry on Results?

Candidates can apply for remarking of one or more sections, or the complete test, for up to six weeks after the IELTS test date. No request is accepted after the deadline. 

Steps to Apply for EOR

• Identify your test type and test centre: Depending on whether you took a paper-based or computer-delivered test, the process and platform might vary.

• Fill out the form: For paper tests, a dedicated EOR form must be submitted to the IELTS test centre. Candidates who have applied for a computer-delivered test can request an EOR by logging into their official account on IDP. 

• Specify sections for re-marking: Mention the number of sections you want to apply to reevaluate. 

• Pay the fee: Upon form submission, the test centre will email an invoice. Follow the payment instructions in the invoice promptly to avoid delays.

• Await re-evaluation: Re-marking will be done by senior examiners not involved in your original assessment. Results are typically issued within 2–21 days.

The EOR procedure varies by test centre. Here’s a quick overview for IELTS CBT and paper-based tests:

Paper-based IELTS 

• Step 1: Submit the online EOR form specifying the sections.

• Step 2: Wait for an invoice email within two business days.

• Step 3: Make the payment as per the instructions.

Re-marking: Done by experienced senior examiners.

Computer-Based IELTS

• Log in to your IELTS profile online.

• Access the “EOR” tab and click on “Apply Now.”

• Complete the EOR application form.

IELTS Enquiry on Results Refund Policy

If your score improves following the EOR, your entire fee is refunded and a new TRF is issued. Candidates must follow the instructions below to process their IELTS EOR refunds:

• Timely Action: The EOR request must be made within six weeks of your test date.

• No Score Decrease Risk: While your score can increase, it will not decrease as a result of re-marking.

• Be Realistic: Only apply if you genuinely believe there is an error in marking, especially for subjective sections like Writing and Speaking.

• Monitor Timelines: Results may take up to 21 days, so plan accordingly if you have university or visa deadlines.
