The National Testing Agency (NTA) has set new guidelines for students applying to JEE Main 2025, with the January session application last date on November 22. Applicants belonging to the OBC and EWS categories must provide their category certificate ID, issue date, and issuing officer’s name for the first time, making these details mandatory for the application process.   • Category Certificate Requirement During the JEE Mains Application Process: Applicants do not need to upload the caste certificate while submitting the JEE Main application. However, they will need to enter the certificate ID number in the form.
  • Counseling Stage : The caste certificate is required only during JEE Main 2025 counseling for document verification.
  • Certificate Validity : For counseling, only caste certificates issued after April 1, 2025, will be accepted. However, applicants can use their current certificate ID while completing the application and apply for a newer certificate if needed.
  • Obtaining Certificates : Applicants without a caste certificate should apply for one immediately through authorized state or central agencies. State certificates typically take 10 to 15 days, while the central certificate is needed for admissions to national universities.

JEE Mains 2025 OBC-NCL Category Certificate Format

The OBC-NCL (Non-Creamy Layer) category has a reservation of 27% for JEE Main 2025 admissions. The certificate format is available on the NTA website, and applicants must ensure they include the following details:
  • Applicant's Full Name
  • Guardian’s Name
  • Residential Information: Village/Town, District/Division, State/Union Territory
  • Community Name: OBC-NCL
  • Resolution Number: As mentioned on the official certificate
  • The OBC certificate can be issued by the District Magistrate, Deputy Commissioner, or other competent authorities as listed on the NTA website.
  • Applicants must enter their OBC certificate number (either state or central) when applying. If both are available, the central certificate number should be used.

SC/ST Category Certificate Format for JEE Main 2025

As per the official JEE Main 2025 notification , specific reservation percentages are set aside for students in the SC and ST categories:
  • Scheduled Caste (SC): 15% of seats are reserved for students from SC in every course.
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST): 7.5% of seats are reserved in every course.

PwD Category Certificate Format for JEE Mains 2025

The PwD (Persons with Disabilities) reservation for JEE Main 2025 applies to applicants with a permanent disability. This category allocates 5% of the seats to applicants from all categories: GEN, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, and ST. The official NTA website offers a downloadable format for the PwD certificate.
