NID Exam Pattern 2025: The National Institute of Design (NID) has released the NID DAT 2025 exam pattern at admissions.nid.edu along with the official notification. NID Exam Pattern Overview

NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) is conducted in two stages namely NID DAT Prelims and Mains for both B.Des and M.Des programs. NID DAT Prelims is further divided into two stages, i.e., Creative Ability Test (CAT) and General Aptitude Test (GAT). The prelims is a pen and paper-based written exam while the NID DAT Mains comprises a Studio Test and Personal Interview. NID Exam Pattern for B.Des Prelims

NID exam pattern for B.Des program includes both prelims and mains. Candidates get shortlisted for the NID DAT mains exam based on the prelims scores. NID DAT prelims is a 3 hour paper and is conducted in offline mode. The questions are asked in English Language only and are based on general knowledge, general aptitude, knowledge of creativity, visualization, and comprehension. NID Exam Pattern Prelims Marking Scheme

NID Studio Test for B.Des Admission

NID studio test for B.Des admission may consist of questions on different formats such as hands-on sketching, model making, drawing, presentation, group discussions, etc. Candidates who are shortlisted in the NID Studio Test round will only be allowed to appear for the personal interview round. NID Exam Pattern Weightage for B.Des 2025

NID DAT final marks are calculated based on the total marks secured by the candidates in the prelims and mains examinations. The prelims constitute a total weightage of 40% while the mains has 60% in the NID DAT entrance exam. Since last year the weightage has been revised and the new structure is tabulated below.

NID Exam Pattern for M.Des Prelims

NID exam pattern for M.Des also includes prelims and mains. The prelims exam for M.Des consists of a Creative Ability Test, Discipline-Specific Test, and General Aptitude Test. The questions asked will be both subjective and objective. Candidates applying in one discipline have to appear for in NID DAT prelims for only one discipline. The exam duration will be 2.5 hours. If candidates have applied for 2 disciplines, they have to take CAT and two discipline-specific tests. The total duration of NID DAT Prelims will be 4.5 hours (30 minutes for CAT and 2 hours for each discipline-specific test). The NID exam pattern for M.Des prelims is as follows.

The NID studio test is conducted separately for each specialization and comprises questions on drawing/sketching, hands-on model making, group discussions, presentations, etc. Once you clear the studio test, you get shortlisted for the personal interview.
