This task should take you about 20 minutes to complete. The table below displays the results of ten-year research looking at the reasons why American students attend sports events. Provide an overview of the topic by identifying and summarizing its key points, along with any relevant references. Write a minimum of 150 words. Model answer The chart lists the top four reasons why American students attended sporting events in the last 10 years. The percentage of students who attended events to watch a certain sports celebrity has been comparatively consistent over the course of the ten years, varying from 60% ten years ago to about 57% currently. However, a significant amount of students are attending sporting events with friends. This percentage has grown significantly over the past ten years, from 7% to nearly a quarter. The percentage on special occasions dropped sharply from 30% 10 years ago to 18% five years ago, and then to only 12% in more recent times. Additionally, there has been a noticeable rise in the number of people attending athletic events for educational purposes. This proportion has increased from 3% to slightly under 10% in the last ten years. Overall, there has been an increase in people attending events to accompany friends and for educational purposes, while fewer students prefer to attend a sporting event to celebrate an important event.

This task should take you about 20 minutes to complete. The following table shows how England's ways of transportation changed between 1985 and 2000. Provide an overview of the material by identifying and summarizing the main points, along with any relevant references. Write a minimum of 150 words. Model Answer The chart lists England's different means of transport from 1985 to 2001. People traveled more kilometers per year in 2001 than in 1985, including decreases in walking, bicycling, and local bus travel. The average person traveled 4740 miles per year in 1985. But by 2001, this had nearly doubled to an annual average of 6500 miles. The greatest increases in total miles traveled were by car (3200 to 4600) and train (289 to 366). The average distance traveled by taxis increased significantly from 13 to 42 miles, while the average distance traveled by long-distance buses more than doubled, from 54 to 124 miles. However, local bus miles dropped significantly from 429 to 274. There were also small declines in the average number of miles driven by bicycle and on foot. Cycling declined from 51 to 41 miles annually, while walking declined from 255 to 237 miles. From 450 in 1985 to 585 in 2001, the distance covered by "other" forms of transportation also increased.

Tips for writing IELTS Table Answers

In this section, students will get an idea on how to answer IELTS Table Band 9 Model Answer.
  • You have to list all of the important characteristics from the provided table. Remember that one important detail is not enough.
  • Answers to IELTS Table questions should be organized into paragraphs.
  • It's not necessary to write down every detail in the table. The table's stated details can also be grouped by ranges or averages.
  • Limit the number of information you include in the answer and make sure they are well explained.
  • It is required that you write 150 words or more, but generally, you should write 180.
  • Use a type of connectors and linking terms in the answer, such as as opposed to, on the other hand, conversely, in contrast, etc.
  • Pay attention when you write sentence structures. Keep your grammar unique and avoid repetition.
  • There is a limit to how many synonyms you can use for one term. There will be some repetitions of words. You should be good as long as you correctly understand these words and have not made any grammatical errors.
