Full-Form of EPFO

The full EPFO ​​form is the Employee Provident Fund Organization. It is an official body set up to assist CBT (Central Board of Trustees) by the Indian government. Established by the Miscellaneous Provision Act, 1952 & Employees Provident Fund. It is under the jurisdiction of the Indian government department of Labor and Employment. In various parts of the country, it has about 122 offices.

Brief Introduction of EPFO

The Provident Fund Employees Fund came into existence through the promulgation of the Employees' Provident Funds Organization on 15 November 1951. The law is now known as the Employee Funding and Various Funds Act, 1952 which extends throughout India except Jammu and Kashmir.

The law and the Schemes underneath are governed by a three-part Board known as the Central Board of Trustees, the Employees' Provident Fund, which comprises of Government representatives (Both Interior and Government), Employers, and employees.

The board manages the provident fund, pension scheme and insurance scheme for employees working in the organized sector in India. It is one of the largest corporations in the world in terms of customers and the volume of financial transactions generated by it. The board is assisted by the Employees ’PF Organization (EPFO), which comprises 122 regional offices nationwide. EPFO UAN (Universal Account Number)

EPFO Selection will be based on two stages:

1. Written Examination

2. Interview

Written Examination

EPFO Examination Eligibility Criteria

As for the UPSC EPFO Eligibility criteria, candidate must have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. There are several streams mentioned below which are desirable and will be a plus for your application.

1. Integrated five years degree in law/ Bachelor’s in law, Masters in Business Administration, Charted Accountant, Company Secretary, Post Graduate Diploma in Management.

2. Two years of experience in Administration/Accounts/ legal in any government or listed private organization.


The applicant must be:

1. Indian citizen, or

2. Nepal citizen, or

3. Bhutan citizen, or

4. a Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 01, 1962, to stay permanently in India, or

5. a native Indian who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or the East African countries Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with a view to permanent residence. in India.
