Other Medical Courses Apart From The Mbbs

Some of you may be wondering if MBBS is the only path to take if you want to be a doctor. Surely this can't be the only Ph.D. available? India has a lot of medical-related fields of study, not just MBBS. Some of these courses are undergraduate while some are postgraduate. Below is a complete list of medical degrees available in India and what you can expect from them. Most of these courses require a good score in the NEET examination for admission, so you can search for NEET resources after checking the information below.

Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS)

This degree is also specialized and deals only with homeopathy and homeopathic treatment. Again, this is a good choice if you want to specialize in homeopathy, but if you want a more comprehensive medical education, it's better to go for MBBS.

Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc)

This degree is an option for those who want to become veterinarians, that is, doctors who specialize in treating animals. This course is also top-rated because other human-oriented medical lessons rarely teach students about the treatment of animals.

Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

This degree is a specific degree in Ayurvedic medicine. Unlike MBBS, it does not teach more than the basics of general medical practice. This course is good for teaching traditional Ayurvedic techniques but does not teach enough about conventional medicine.

Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT)

A Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) focuses on physiotherapy rather than other surgical and medical treatments. Physiotherapy is a branch of medicine that deals with physical problems through physical therapy and movement. It is a growing branch of medicine due to the relative lack of drugs and a healthy, holistic approach to physical activity.

Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS)

This degree is another degree that specializes in an ancient, traditional form of Indian medicine. It is a relatively new degree and has not yet become as popular as its counterparts.

Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery (BSMS)

This traditional medicine is one of India's oldest recorded forms of treatment. Due to the lack of regular medical teaching, this course did not gain popularity among its counterparts.

Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yoga

This degree usually focuses on the spiritual practice of Yoga and its medical applications. While generally classified as a spiritual practice, Yoga has a long and rich history of medical success. This is a relatively new grade compared to the others on this list.
