Introduction

The term "writer" is often used to describe someone who writes books or novels for publication. I'm going to talk about a writer whom I would like to meet.

Who the writer is?

Murugan is a writer from India. He obtained his M.Phil. in Tamil studies from Madras University after studying Tamil literature as an undergraduate in Erode and as a postgraduate in Coimbatore. He also wrote his doctorate thesis on the works of author R. Shanmugasundaram. He is the author of twelve novels, six short story collections, six poetry collections, and several non-fiction books. Ten of his books have been translated into English.

What do you know about this writer already?

On October 15, 1966, Perumal Murugan was born. He is from a farming family in the Namakkal area of Tamil Nadu, who had a small piece of land close to Tiruchengode. His father is a farmer who runs a soda store to increase the family's income. His most successful novel is Poonachi (2018) “The Story of a Black Goat”.

What information about him or her would you want to know?

I'm curious about his professional failures and how he dealt with and overcame them. Why did he choose this as his professional path? What work has he done to write a book?

Depending on the type of writing and line of work, writers are also referred to as authors or journalists. I'm going to tell you about a writer I'd like to meet.

Who the writer is?

S. Lakshmi was born in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, in 1944. She grew up in Mumbai and Bangalore, did a BA from Bangalore University, an MA from Madras Christian College, and P.hD from Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi. After completing her degree, she worked as a school teacher and college professor in Tamil Nadu. She was married to Vishnu Mathur. He works as a filmmaker, and they reside in Mumbai.

Her first publication was her novel Nandimalai Charalilae, which she authored as a young woman in 1962. She began her serious fiction writing career. It is the Tamil book Andhi Maalai, published in 1966. In addition, her book got the "Kalaimagal Narayanaswamy Aiyar" prize. In 1967, she wrote a short tale called Siragukal Muriyum and published it in the cultural magazine Kanaiya Zhi. In 1976, this tale was released as a book as part of a collection of short stories with the same title. She also has over 30 years of experience as a researcher in women's studies.
