Candidates from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) within the Open Category must provide a valid EWS certificate issued by a Competent Authority, dated on or after April 1, 2024.

Each NIFT campus reserves seats for State Domicile Candidates, providing local students an opportunity for admission based on their state of residence.
Unfilled Domicile (Open) and Domicile (OBC NCL) category seats will be converted to open category in the Spot Round of seat allocation. Unfilled Domicile SC/ST seats will be merged with SC/ST seats in the Spot Round of Seat Allocation.
Requirements under each category for NIFT 2025 Reservation Criteria

1. SC/ST Candidates
15% of seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates, and 7.5% of seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates.
Candidates applying under the SC/ST category must provide a valid Caste/Tribe certificate issued by the Competent Authority of their respective State or Union Territory. The certificate should be in the candidate’s name.
The certificate must be in English or Hindi. If the certificate is in any other language, a certified translation must be provided. If a certified translation is not submitted, the candidate will not be eligible for the category reservation benefit.
The category mentioned in the NIFT 2025 application form will be considered final, and no changes will be allowed afterward.
2. OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)
Candidates must provide a valid OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate. This certificate should be issued in the candidate's own name, not in the name of a parent or guardian.
The caste listed on the OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate should be included in the Central List of OBCs.
For OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates, ensure that the certificate has not been issued before April 1, 2024.
Candidates have to submit the category certificate along with other documents at the time of NIFT admission 2025.
The category declared in the NIFT application form will be considered final, and no changes will be allowed after submission.
You are required to upload the caste certificate for the OBC category while filling out the NIFT application form.
This reservation is exclusively for candidates belonging to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) within the Open Category.
Applicants must meet the criteria outlined in the OM No. 20013/01/2018-BC-II, dated January 17, 2019, by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Higher Education, Government of India.
Candidates must provide a valid EWS (Open) certificate issued by a Competent Authority. The certificate must be dated on or after April 1, 2024.
A 10% reservation is available for EWS candidates who meet the specified criteria.
4. Persons with Disability (PwD)
