8. Lohagadh Fort

Shivaji took control of the fort in 1648 CE, and the Mughals took it in 1665 CE. When Shivaji Maharaj retook the fort in 1670 CE, he used it to house the treasure he had taken from Surat. 9. Sinhagadh Fort

About 25 kilometres southwest of Pune, atop a hill, sits Sinhagadh Fort. At 1,312 meters above sea level, it is situated. According to some reports, the fort might have been constructed more than 2,000 years ago. Formerly known as Kondhana, the fort has seen numerous conflicts over the ages, the most significant of which being the Battle of Sinhagad in 1670.

10. Akola Fort
