  • To be eligible for the position, applicants must hold a Master's degree or equivalent in Bengali language or literature from a university accredited by the UGC.
  • Regardless of the announcement date, PhD applicants who finished their coursework by September 19, 1991, are eligible for a 5% aggregate mark relaxation or a 50% decrease in their NET appearance.
  • Before December 1, 2002, applicants for Assistant Professor positions in Indian universities or colleges could only apply in states where they passed the UGC-accredited State Eligibility Test (SET), without needing to take the NET.
Minimum Marks
  • To be considered for Assistant Professor or JRF jobs in the General Category, candidates must receive at least 50% of the total qualifying marks in Reserve Categories and 55% of the total qualifying marks in both papers combined in the UGC NET Bengali Exam 2024.
Age Limit
  • The UGC NET certification allows anyone to take the exam and be considered for Assistant Professor positions, as there is no upper age limit.
