The full form for AILET in the Examination field is an All India Law Entrance Test.

The National level exam All India Law Entrance Test is conducted by the National Law University,  Delhi. The AILET allows for admission in BBA LLB, LLM and PhD programs. 

About AILET

All India Law Entrance Test is an entrance exam for admission to the Law College of Delhi, organised by the National Law University. The AILET is only for National Law Universities, and the NLU does not accept any other Law Entrance exams like CLAT etc. NLU Delhi comes under the top three law colleges in India. AILET conducts only once a year. The exam is done in pen-paper mode within 1.5 hours for 150 questions and a negative marking also 0.25. The AILET is a challenging exam with limited seats in every course of NLU. Across India, every year, approximately 20,500 candidates applied for AILET in 2022. The  General category has only 50 seats. The cut-off varies for every category, and the highest cut-off is for General category candidates. 

All India Law Entrance Test will be conducted in 40 cities offline. The type of questions is multiple choice, and approx 150 questions come in the exam. The question paper is divided into three sections: English, Logical Reasoning and General Knowledge. For AILET LLM, three sections are General Knowledge, Reasoning and English and LLM Jurisprudence.

AILET Eligibility Criteria

The Eligibility criteria of AILET are different for every course, like BA LLB, LLB and Ph.D. So candidates first know about the criteria before applying because after completing the application form, the University will not be responsible for any consequences, like the application fee will not be refundable, and they will not give admission if you do not fulfil their criteria.

AILET Eligibility Criteria for BA LLB

Before applying for the exam, candidates have to know about the criteria that are given below:

  • Candidates must have cleared 12 at least 50 % for the general and creamy OBCs grade candidates.
  • For SC, ST candidates have 45% or have an equivalent examination from a recognised board.
  • Those candidates who apply in their 12 can also give the exam.
  • There is no minimum or maximum age requirement to take the exam.

AILET Eligibility Criteria for LLM

Before applying for the exam, candidates have to know about AILET LLM  criteria that are given below:

  • Candidates must have a graduation degree in LAW from a recognised university by the Bar Council of India. 
  • Candidates must have at least 50 % for the general and creamy OBC grades. For SC, ST candidates have 45% marks in their graduation.
  • Candidates in the last year of LLB can also apply.

AILET Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D. 

Before applying for the exam, candidates must know about AILET PhD the criteria below.

  • Candidates have to pass LLM before applying for a PhD
  • Candidates have at least 55% marks in LLM for general, and SC/ST and disabled persons have to score 45%.

AILET Exam Pattern 

  • The exam pattern of AILET is conducted for both degrees UG and PG.
  • The time given for the exam is 1 hour 30 minutes.
  • All the questions come in MCQs based.
  • The entrance exam is done in offline mode.
  • The negative marking is 0.25. Correct answers give one mark for every question.

  • The AILET exam is very tough, and there are also limited seats for every course provided by the National Law University. 
  • Around 20000 candidates apply every year for this exam from all over India.
