The full form of PBOR is Personnel Below Officer rank. These personnels, who are kept under the officer profile are the soldiers that participate in combat and technical service. Generally, the eligibility for getting an appointment as a PBOR is qualifying class 12th from a recognised board with passing marks. With that, the age limit is going to be 17 ½ - 21 years for all the categories.
As per the new rules, recruitment will be made based on the guidelines under the Agnipath scheme. Earlier, the tenure of PBOR was between 17 to 30 years. As per the latest guidelines, the recruitment of a candidate for the PBOR is going to be based on the basis of the Agnipath scheme. The Agnipath scheme has been prescribed for the PBOR and the final selection will be made based on the performance in the written exam, PST round and PET round.
However, the candidates thus recruited will be kept in the service for a period of four years only. During this period, the recruited person will be provided with detailed training in working as defence personnel. After the four-year service period is over, only 25% of the force shall be retained and the remaining personnels will be relieved of their service with an attractive Sevanidhi package.
The Indian Defence forces prescribe a lucrative salary structure for those who are selected to serve as PBORs. The personnels are subjected to get allowances, perks in addition to the pay level and grade pay relevant to the post on which they are working.
