Kerala NEET PG Counselling 2024 Eligibility Criteria |
Criteria |
Details |
Academic |
Applicants must possess an MBBS degree or a provisional pass certificate that is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC), formerly known as the Medical Council of India (MCI). Additionally, candidates must have completed a one-year internship by the deadline of 15.08.2024. It is crucial for candidates to be registered with the Travancore Cochin Medical Council or the Kerala State Medical Council to be eligible for admission. This registration confirms that the applicant has met all necessary training requirements and adheres to professional standards in practice. |
Nativity |
Candidates must fulfill specific nativity conditions to qualify for admission: 1. Indian Citizenship of Kerala Origin: Applicants should be Indian citizens with roots in Kerala, ensuring that local candidates receive priority in the admission process. 2. OCI Cardholders: Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders are eligible for seats in the General (UR) and Non-Resident Indian (NRI) categories but will not benefit from any reserved seats. This inclusion aligns with the directive from the Supreme Court regarding equal treatment for OCI cardholders. 3. Non-Keralite Graduates: Candidates who are not originally from Kerala but have obtained their MBBS degree from a medical college in Kerala can apply. However, they will not qualify for any communal or special reservation benefits, placing them in the general admission category. 4. Service Quota for Non-Keralite Doctors: Recent court rulings have permitted non-Keralite service doctors to apply under the service quota, allowing for broader participation in the selection process while ensuring that service commitments are considered. |
Age |
There is no upper age limit for admission to PG Medical courses, making the program accessible to a wide range of applicants. However, specific quotas have age restrictions: i. Medical Education Service Quota Candidates: These candidates face an upper age limit of 49 years as of 31 December 2024. This restriction aims to prioritize experienced candidates who have committed to long-term service in medical education. ii. Health Service and Insurance Medical Service Quota Candidates: An upper age limit of 47 years applies to these candidates as of the same date, ensuring that those applying for service-based roles are relatively younger and more likely to serve actively in the medical field. |
