Candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria established by the Odisha Public Service Commission to apply successfully for the role of Assistant Industries Officer. A detailed eligibility norm consisting of educational qualification and age limit is explained below:
- Educational Qualification - Candidates must possess a B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent degree in any engineering discipline from a recognized University or Institution.
- Age Limit - Candidates must have attained a minimum age of 21 years and the upper age should not be above 38 years as on 1st January 2024. Candidates should have been born not earlier than 2nd January 1986 and not later than 1st January 2003.
- Age Relaxation - The maximum age limit of candidates is rexable to 5 years for SEBC, SC, ST, Women, and Ex-Servicemen, 10 years for Persons with Disabilities, and 15 years cumulative relaxation for Persons with Disabilities in SEBC/SC/ST categories.

The selection process for OPSC AIO (Assistant Industries Officer) consists of a written exam followed by an interview:
- Written Exam - The written examination consists of two papers i.e. Paper I will have questions from General English, General Awareness, and General Aptitude worth a total of 100 marks and the exam duration will be 2 hours, Paper II will have 300 marks consisting of questions from Basic Engineering with a duration of 3 hours. There will be a negative marking of 25% for each wrong answer.
- Qualifying Marks - The minimum qualifying marks in the written exam will be 35% for unreserved candidates and 30% for SEBC/SC/ST/PwD candidates.
- Personal Interview - Those who clear the written examination will be called for a Personal Interview in the ratio of 1:2 of the total vacancies. The interview will assess the candidate's communication skills and professional knowledge worth 50 marks.
- Document Verification - Successful candidates will undergo the document verification phase to ensure candidates meet the essential requirements and possess valid certificates in support of academic qualification, age limit, category (if applicable), etc.
