NID DAT Merit List 2025 will be released after the declaration of the final results for the NID DAT exam 2025. The National Institute of Design will separately release the merit list for BDes and MDes programs, separately and categor-wise. The NID MDes Mains result 2025was out on 6th May 2025, while the BDes Mains Result 2025 will be released on 16th May 2025. Candidates who are included in the NID DAT merit list will be eligible to participate in the NID counselling and seat allotment process. NID DAT was conducted on 5th January 2025 for admission to UG and PG design courses at various design colleges and institutes across India.
How is NID DAT Merit List Prepared?
The NID DAT merit list is prepared by combining candidates’ scores from both the DAT Prelims and DAT Mains exams. Each stage carries a specific weightage in the final calculation. For B.Des admissions, the Prelims score accounts for 40% and the Mains score for 60% of the final merit, while for M.Des, the Prelims carries 30% and the Mains 70%. Only candidates who appear in both stages are considered for the final merit list, which is released category-wise for all reservation groups. The final merit list is used for counselling and seat allotment.

Types of NID DAT Merit List 2025
There will be two types of NID DAT merit lists.
DAT Prelims Merit List: The NID DAT Prelims Merit List is prepared based on the scores obtained in the NID DAT Prelims. Candidates shortlisted in the merit list proceed towards the NID DAT Mains exam. It must be noted that the NID DAT Prelims merit list will not be considered for the NID counseling and seat allotment process.
DAT Mains Merit List: The DAT Mains merit list is considered for the seat allotment and counselling process. The list is prepared category-wise for both BDes and MDes programs. Candidates who fail to appear for the NID DAT Mains exam will not be included in the DAT merit list.

NID DAT 2025 Counseling
The NID DAT 2025 counselling is the centralized online process to secure admission to Bachelor of Design (B.Des) and Master of Design (M.Des) programs at the National Institute of Design. After the declaration of final results and merit lists, eligible candidates must participate in the counselling by registering online, submitting campus preferences (for B.Des), and uploading required documents. Seat allotment is based on NID DAT merit rank, candidate category, seat availability, and program preferences, with separate schedules for B.Des (May 27–30, 2025) and M.Des (May 6–7, 2025). Candidates allotted a seat must confirm it by paying a non-refundable token fee and completing document verification within the specified deadlines to secure their admission.
