DAP Full Form in English

The DAP full form in English is Diamine phosphate. It is one of the major water-soluble ammonium phosphate salts. Whereas, the IUPAC name of DAP is diammonium hydrogen phosphate. Its molecular formula is H₉N₂O₄P. DAP is manufactured by the reaction of ammonia with phosphoric acid. It was earlier used in the biopreservation of plant products such as seeds and fruits. Additionally, it was also used to treat several medical conditions by obtaining in different medicated forms.

डीएपी का मतलब डायमाइन फॉस्फेट है। डायमाइन फॉस्फेट पानी में घुलनशील अमोनियम फॉस्फेट लवणों में से एक है। डायमाइन फॉस्फेट का IUPAC नाम डायमोनियम हाइड्रोजन फॉस्फेट है और इसका आणविक सूत्र H₉N₂O₄P है। फॉस्फोरिक एसिड के साथ अमोनिया की प्रतिक्रिया करके डायमाइन फॉस्फेट का उत्पादन किया जा सकता है। डायमाइन फॉस्फेट का उपयोग करके बीज और फलों जैसे पौधों के उत्पादों के जैव संरक्षण का एक लंबा इतिहास रहा है। खाद्य संरक्षण में डायमाइन फॉस्फेट का उपयोग कई औषधीय उत्पादों को जन्म देता है, जैसे "डेक्सट्रोज डाइहाइड्रोजन फॉस्फेट" (डीएचडीएचपी), जिसका उपयोग पैरेंट्रल एंटी-इन्फ्लूएंजा दवा में किया जाता है।

The DAP full form in medical is Diamine Phosphate. It is a significant water-soluble ammonium phosphate salt. Its IUPAC name is diammonium hydrogen phosphate, and its molecular formula is H₉N₂O₄P. The compound is produced by the reaction of ammonia with phosphoric acid. The DAP finds a great application in the fertiliser industry and is also used intensively in the baking industry, water treatments, and surfactants.

Structure of DAP

The structure of DAP is made by combining the molecules of ammonia and hydrogen. The chemical structure of Diamine phosphate is diammonium hydrogen phosphate (NH₄HPO₄) with H2₂N₂O₄P and H₃N₂O₄P. Its molecular formula is H₂N₂O₄P and the molecular weight is 203.32 g/mol, and its density is 1.131 g/cm³. Similarly, the melting point of diammonium hydrogen phosphate is and its refractive index is 1.585 – 1.587.

Uses of DAP

DAP has an intensive application in the fertiliser industry and is used in various forms. Here are the major uses of DAP:

1. DAP is commonly used as a fertiliser to replenish the nutrients like phosphorus. Having an adequate amount of fertilizers also helps to promote healthy growth and improve crop yields.
2. DAP are used in water treatment processes to prevent the formation of scale and corrosion in pipes and equipment.
3. DAP are used as flame retardants in various materials, including plastics and textiles, to reduce the risk of fire.
4. DAP are widely used in pharmaceutical and chemical synthesis as building blocks for various drugs and organic compounds.
5. DAP is also used as a surfactant in personal care products and cleaning agents due to its ability to enhance cleaning properties

Application of DAP

• DAP is used in the production of anti-influenza medication. It is known to reduce bacterial growth in a liquid medium at normal temperature. This makes it one of the best bases of anti-influenza medication as it helps to regrow neurons
• Diammonium hydrogen phosphate is used as a dough-strengthening agent in the bakery industry.  DAP is also used in the wine to reduce the harsh taste of dry wine. This is done by adding tartaric acid and diammonium hydrogen phosphate (1:1 ratio)
• DAP is also used to treat whole egg powder and skimmed dried milk as it prevents the rancidity of these. It is also known to work as a buffering agent in cheese processing to control acidity, control flavour, and improve texture
• The addition of diamine phosphate also promotes the growth of yeast, mould, and bacteria and thus helps to prevent the spoilage of certain foods such as cheese, gums, and frozen citrus fruit
• Diammonium hydrogen phosphate is commonly used to maintain bread’s texture during baking. Bread dough containing diammonium hydrogen phosphate can have a better texture, a softer crust, and retain moisture longer than low–acid brands

Health Effects of DAP

DAP is not toxic in nature and causes little or no harm to humans or animals. It is often seen that DAP does not cause any physical harm if swallowed by someone. However, one may experience nausea or vomiting which can be mild. In case, one swallows a large amount of DAP then they can consult a physician.
