The PMS full form is Pre-Menstrual Syndrome. As the name suggests, these are physical, emotional, or behavioural syndromes. PMS syndrome usually includes sadness, anxiety, headache, and hunger pangs. These symptoms are visible a week prior to the menstrual cycle or during the ovulation period. One can resort to simple home remedies or clinical treatment to control the PMS symptoms.

What is the Major Reason for PMS?

The symptoms of PMS are mainly seen at least 6 to 7 days before the onset of the menstrual cycle. Here are the major reasons that worsen the symptoms of PMS:

Popular studies have suggested that the symptoms of PMS are more prevalent at least 6 to 7 days before the onset of the menstruation period. This is because the uterine lining sheds in a period of five to eleven days. The symptoms have surged as soon as the woman experiences the ovulation period. Before the onset of the menstrual period, a corpus luteum is created that boosts the production of progesterone levels in preparation for pregnancy. Once the pregnancy is terminated, the levels of the progesterone & oestrogen levels drop thus making the PMS symptoms less severe. However, it does not last for four days after the menstruation period is over.
