ICSH Function in Male

LH hormone is present in the male body and regulates the functioning of the pituitary gland and male reproductive system. The ICSH hormone targets the Sertoli cells present in the seminiferous tubules. This eventually creates a protein called Androgen Binding Protein (ABP) in the body. The protein is then attached to the androgen receptor and it produces the androgen testosterone and inhibin. Here are the major functions of the LH hormone in males.

1. Testosterone Production

LH hormone stimulates the interstitial cells also called Leydig cells to produce testosterone. This cell is present inside the testes of the male. Testosterone is the primary male sex hormone which is helpful in the development and maintenance of male reproductive tissue. Apart from this, it also stimulates secondary sexual characteristics and libido in males.

2. Spermatogenesis Support

LH hormone also supports spermatogenesis which stimulates the process of sperm production in the body. The ICSH hormone increases the pace of testosterone production which is helpful for the maturation and development of sperm cells within the testes.

3. Feedback Regulation

LH hormone is also helpful to get a negative feedback mechanism that regulates testosterone levels. 1. Ovulation

2. Corpus Luteum Formation

After ovulation, the ICSH levels stimulate the ovarian follicle to transform into the corpus luteum. The corpus luteum produces the hormone progesterone that prepares the uterus for any pregnancy. The LH hormone plays a pivotal role in supporting early pregnancy.

3. Hormonal Regulation
