The IVF full form is In vitro fertilisation. In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is a medical procedure commonly referred to as Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) for achieving pregnancy. IVF involves fertilising eggs from a female donor with sperm from a male donor outside the woman's body. The resulting embryo, also known as a zygote, is cultured in specialised laboratory conditions.
Subsequently, the embryo is transferred to the uterus of the intended mother. IVF is particularly beneficial for women who have blocked or damaged Fallopian tubes, as it bypasses the need for the eggs to travel through these tubes for fertilisation. This technique has popularly been associated with the birth of test-tube babies.Check NEET Exam Important Links
