UPSC recommends 334 candidates for Principal Post

The Union Public Service Commission selected 334 candidates to fill vacant principal positions.

The LG issued a statement on March 23, 2023 about the vacancies which have been lying vacant for long.

For that reason, the news about 334 principal posts to be filled comes with great joy.

Furthermore, the statement issued states that the UPSC conducted the recruitment test on July 17, 2022.

Additionally, the interviews for the posts took place between January 30 and March 2, 2023.

Although initially, the test and interview were conducted to fill 363 positions, 29 positions could not be filled. This was due to the unavailability of suitable candidates.

Principals play a critical role in the academic and administrative performance of a school. Thus, filling those positions in Delhi government schools was of utmost priority.

It was crucial to fill the posts as the number of vacancies kept increasing over the years.

Moreover, Delhi government schools, which hold a sanctioned strength of 475 principals, have been operating without principals in 424 schools.

According to the statement, the number of vacant positions increased from 56 to 241 in 2014-2015.By 2022, the number had risen to 424 out of 475.

Since these posts were lying vacant for so long, the push by the LG, Vinai Kumar, and UPSC was much needed.

Thanks to their collective efforts, the selection of 334 candidates took place.

Moreover, the statement also read that 424 posts out of 475 principal posts were vacant as of January 1, 2023.

Subsequently, the Aam Aadmi Party said that of the 334 principals recruited by UPSC, 100 of these candidates belong to government schools under the Delhi Directorate of Education (DoE).

Delhi Government Principal Vacancies In a Nutshell

It is worth noting that Delhi government school teachers placed first in both categories.

This means that they (the Delhi govt. School teachers) aced the male and female categories of the UPSC principal recruitment exam.

She mentioned that this outcome is the result of persistent efforts by the Delhi government.

She further added that the UPSC was able to appoint a large number of principals in a short time thanks to the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal.
