Bisection of a Line Segment

Practical Geometry of Class 6

Bisection of a line segment

Step of construction

  • Step 1: Draw a line segment AB of given length.
  • Step 2: With centre A and radius more than half of AB draw arcs on each side of AB.
  • Step 3: With centre B repeat step 2 to intersect previous arcs. Name them as E and F.
  • Step 4: Now join E and F by a straight line.
  • Step 5: Let the intersection point of AB and EF be M.M is the midpoint, so EF is bisector of AB.
