Proportion
The equality of two ratios is called proportion. Four quantities a, b, c, d are said to be in proportion if a: b = c : d and it is written as a : b : : c : d.
Here, ‘a’ and‘d’ are called extremes, ‘b’ and ‘c’ are known as means. The term a is called the first proportional and d the fourth proportional.
