Types of endocrine glands :
Endocrine glands are of two types
Purely endocrine glands : These are devoted entirely to hormone secretion e.g. pituitary pineal, thyroid, parathyroid, thymus, adrenal.
Partly endocrine glands : These produce hormones and perform other functions also e.g. hypothalamus, gonads, placenta, pancreas, kidneys, mucous membrane of alimentary canal.
