Gauss Laws definition

It relates the total flux (F) of an electric field ( ) through a closed surface (S) to the net charge (q) enclosed by that surface. Let the electric field   makes an angle q with the positive normal to the surface D . Then, the quantity DF = E DS cos q

is called the flux of the electric field through the chosen surface. If we draw a vector of magnitude DS along the positive normal, it is called the area vector, D .
