Introduction of Human Population
Human Population of Class 12
Root cause of all problems in India is population explosion; uncontrolled growth of human population will ultimately destroy the whole biosphere.
Current rate of growth of human population globally is 2% per annum.
- Demography - Statistical study of human population.
- Natality rate - Number of births per thousand of a population per year; can be represented in percentage.
- Death rate - Number of death occurring in a population of one thousand per year.
- Total Fertility Rate - Average number of children that would be born to a woman during her lifetime.
Biotic Potential
The physiological capacity to produce offspring is known as biotic potential or reproductive potential.
Environmental Resistance
Various environmental factors like diseases, paucity of food and predation act as constraints and keep the population growth under check.
